About the Workshop:

Greetings Fellow Art Lovers,
I am an adult art teacher of 45 years on the south side of Chicago, but I spend July & August in my cottage on Lake Missaukee. My degree from Northern Illinois University is a Bachelor in Art Education. I teach Drawing & Watercolor Classes in the Chicago Area. Our theme for the workshop is trees. The reference we will be working from is a scene from the Smoky Mountains.

All reference materials will be provided and there will be a packet of additional information for you to take home to assist you with further projects. My specialty is teaching beginners to intermediate students, so I will be demonstrating each stage of painting. Questions are welcome and any help with other projects can be addressed also.

If you are more comfortable working in another medium you may do so and I will assist you in any way I can, although watercolor is my true passion and I will be demonstrating that medium.

You will need to bring your own supplies. For those who wish to work closely with my technique, I will be working on the following: 11”x15” –Arches 300 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper (140 lb. is fine also), with the following paint colors: cerulean blue, cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, burnt umber, sepia, sop green, olive green, hoorers green dark, alizarin crimson, cadmium red light, cadmium yellow light, cobalt turquoise.

Brushes – 1” flat, ½” flat, #8 & #6 in rounds, and a rigger. Water container, and pencil for sketching. Other paper for testing colors is nice to have also. You may use any materials you have and are comfortable with, and do not need t o use the same as I do. Techniques will include: wet-in-wet, salt, splattering and masking.

A boxed lunch will be provided if you like. Coffee, and a few treats will be available.

I encourage use of creative license, so feel free to adapt any of my instruction to your personal style. As artists we like to learn new concept but we love to have fun! So please come and enjoy a creative day of painting with me!

Artfully yours,
Mary

Mary Kodl Truesdale is also a member of the Burbank Art League which meets the last Monday of each month at 7pm at the LSV Senior Center (Art Studio) 7745 S. Leamington, Burbank, IL. Burbank Art League Meets the following dates:
